Notes

'Twilight Chalice' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Twilight Chalice') is a shrub for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Fragrant, dark purple-red single flowers open in early to mid spring. The upward facing blooms have black flares at the center. Yang Chengwei made the crosses it came from, and the plant has an upright habit.

Pairs well with Star magnolia, Toad lily, and Carnaval De Nice tulip.
