Notes

'Winter Gem' boxwood (Buxus microphylla var. japonica 'Winter Gem') is a shrub for hedges, borders, foundation plantings, and formal gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy or clay soil. It grows slowly into a dense, evergreen mound that tolerates drought, and bees visit its yellowish-green spring flowers. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Munstead lavender, Autumn fern, and Star Gazer lily.
