Notes

Mexican redbud (Cercis canadensis var. mexicana) is a tree for borders, specimen planting, and woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to moist soil of most types. Pink to purple flowers open from late winter into late spring and attract bees and butterflies. Deer rarely make it their first choice. The glossy, silvery green leaves have wavy edges, and the tree is drought tolerant.

Pairs well with Witch hazel, Blue wild indigo, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
