Notes

'Vaughn' oakleaf hydrangea (Hydrangea quercifolia 'Vaughn') is a shrub for borders, specimen planting, and shade gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy or loamy soil. It grows slowly into an erect mound 36 to 48 inches tall and 36 to 60 inches wide. White, fragrant blooms open in early to late spring and again in early to late summer. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit it, and the leaves show fall color.

Pairs well with Christmas fern, Little bluestem, and Witch hazel.
