Notes
'Vega' sweet cherry (Prunus avium 'Vega') is a columnar tree for food gardens and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun. Vega is grown for fresh eating, and the large yellow and red cherries have pale flesh. It blooms over an unusually long period in spring, which draws bees and butterflies. It is not self-fertile, so plant a self-fertile variety such as Stella or Sweetheart nearby.
Pairs well with Red Riding Hood tulip, White oak, Blonde Ambition blue grama, and Limelight Prime panicle hydrangea.
