Notes

'Veritas' peony (Paeonia 'Veritas') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fragrant double flowers are dark red, like varnished mahogany, and they have a collar of stamens. Edward Auten, Jr bred it. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by.

Pairs well with First Frost hosta, Moonshine yarrow, and Blonde Ambition blue grama.
