Notes

'Vestale' lilac (Syringa vulgaris 'Vestale') is a shrub for cut flowers, pollinator gardens, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy or clay soil. It blooms in early to late spring with fragrant flowers that attract butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. It also tolerates salt.

Pairs well with Phantom panicle hydrangea, David garden phlox, and Spanish bluebell.
