Notes
'Victoire Mathieu' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Victoire Mathieu') is a shrub for borders, cut flower gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its woody stems stay above ground through winter, so you only need to trim out dead wood in spring. The blooms also work well in a vase.
Pairs well with Susan magnolia, Moonshine yarrow, and Blue Arrow Rocky mountain juniper.
