Notes

'Ville de Lyon' clematis (Clematis 'Ville de Lyon') is a vine for borders, containers, cottage gardens, and specimen use. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. Carmine red flowers are frosted with lavender pink in the middle, and they open in waves from late spring to fall. Francisque Morel bred it as a seedling of 'Madame Edouard André'.

Pairs well with Jeana garden phlox, Paperbark maple, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and Obsidian coral bells.
