Notes

'Vinho Verde' weigela (Weigela Florida 'Vinho Verde') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, hedges, and foundation plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer rarely make it their first choice. Its arching form grows at a moderate rate to 3 to 5 feet tall. It blooms in spring and again in summer, and hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees visit the flowers.

Pairs well with Munstead lavender, Japanese forest grass, Ornamental onion, and Liberty hosta.
