Notes

'Violet Riot' sage (Salvia nemorosa 'Violet Riot') is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, cottage gardens, and xeriscapes. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy soil. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. It forms a clumping, fragrant mound that tolerates drought. Butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds visit the flowers.

Pairs well with Stella de Oro daylily, Little bluestem, and Eastern columbine.
