Notes

'Walter Mains' peony (Paeonia 'Walter Mains') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Walter Z. Mains bred it, and its tall, strong stems carry large, fragrant red blooms. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. Butterflies and bees visit the flowers.

Pairs well with Halcyon hosta, Blonde Ambition blue grama, and Annabelle hydrangea.
