Notes

'Watermelon Wine' peony (Paeonia 'Watermelon Wine') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average moisture. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Its fragrant rose-red blooms have cherry-red flares and attract butterflies and bees. Roger F. Anderson bred it in 1999.

Pairs well with Big Daddy hosta, Clustered bellflower, and Blue grama.
