Notes
Whip-poor-will flower (Trillium cernuum) is a perennial for shade gardens, woodland settings, and borders. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist soil. A white flower with deep rose anthers nods beneath a whorl of three large leaves. Bees visit the blooms in spring, and a three-cornered fruit turns red later. Maple leaves make a good winter cover.
Pairs well with Bellwort, Dutchman's breeches, and Canadian hemlock.
