'Yanzhi Jiangnan' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Yanzhi Jiangnan') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. In late spring it bears semi-double, deep purplish-pink flowers with a darker purplish red center. The blooms face upward and measure about 5 inches across. New foliage emerges deep red and matures to green with purple edges.

Pairs well with Prairie dropseed, Grape hyacinth, and Irish moss.
