'Yu Lan' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Yu Lan') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fragrant, light rose-pink flowers are semi-double and face upward. Stems are straight and stand upright on their own, so you do not need to stake it. It is more compact than the traditional cultivar Qin Wen.
Pairs well with Dog's tooth violet, Sedge, and Grape hyacinth.
