Notes

'Zabergau Reinette' apple (Malus domestica 'Zabergau Reinette') is a tree for the food garden, grown for fresh eating and juice. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. The white spring blossom is particularly attractive and draws bees. The fruit tastes sharp at picking but turns much sweeter after a month or so in a cold store. Plant a second apple nearby for pollination.

Pairs well with High-bush blueberry, Iris, Tree peony, and Tiger lily.
