Notes

'Zara' clematis (Clematis 'Zara') is a vine for trellises, containers, cottage gardens, and privacy screens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil. Light blue flowers with yellow stamens open from spring to fall on stems 5 to 6 feet high. Plant it where dark green or burgundy foliage will show off the blooms. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. Raymond J. Evison bred it in 2012.

Pairs well with Royal Purple smoketree, Lanceleaf coreopsis, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
