Notes
'Adonis' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Adonis') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It bears large, double pink flowers with a yellow collar in late spring. Tall, strong stems hold the blooms upright, and the plant reaches about 35 inches. Hans Peter Sass bred it.
Pairs well with False Solomon's seal, Blonde Ambition blue grama, Black Hero tulip, and Japanese spirea.
