Notes
'Allegro' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Allegro') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its semi-double pink flowers measure 7 inches across and carry dark, nearly black flares. The blooms have a light fragrance. Irmtraud Rieck bred it, and it grows upright and spreading to about 5 feet.
Pairs well with Weigela, Abiqua Drinking Gourd hosta, and Garlic chives.
