Notes

'Allemans' red twig dogwood (Cornus sericea 'Allemans') is a shrub for borders, hedges, winter interest, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer rarely make it their first choice. It grows fast and reaches 48 to 60 inches tall and wide. White flowers appear in spring and again in summer, and they draw butterflies, bees, and birds.

Pairs well with Common snowberry, Spotted joe-pye weed, Goldsturm black-eyed Susan, and Sensitive fern.
