Notes

'Ancilla' iris (Iris 'Ancilla') is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist soil. The flowers have violet standards and violet falls with a plum purple blotch. It blooms in early to late spring and again in early to late summer. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Amsonia, Japanese forest grass, and Feather reed grass.
