Notes
'Andenken an Paul Gerber' aster (Symphyotrichum 'Andenken an Paul Gerber') is a perennial for pollinator gardens, meadows, rain gardens, and cut flower beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, clay soil. Purple flowers open in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit the blooms.
Pairs well with Joe-pyeweed, Big bluestem, and False indigo.
