Notes

'Barr' aster (Symphyotrichum 'Barr') is a perennial for pollinator gardens, meadows, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, clay soil. It grows 36 to 84 inches tall and bears purple flowers. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit the blooms. Deer tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Big bluestem, Joe-pyeweed, and Buttonbush.
