Notes

'Helen Picton' aster (Symphyotrichum 'Helen Picton') is a perennial for cut flowers, pollinator gardens, meadows, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, clay soil. Purple flowers open from early to late autumn and attract butterflies, bees, and birds. Deer tend to browse other plants first. It grows 36 to 84 inches tall and 24 to 36 inches wide.

Pairs well with Joe-pyeweed, Big bluestem, and Bottlebrush buckeye.
