Notes

'Appleton House' peony (Paeonia 'Appleton House') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its large cream-white flowers are fragrant, double or semi-double, and open early in the season on stems with reddish tops. Professor Harald Fawkner bred it, and it grows into a grand plant about 40 inches tall. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal.

Pairs well with Empress Wu hosta, Black Hero tulip, Blonde Ambition blue grama, and Annabelle hydrangea.
