Notes
'Baldwin' apple (Malus domestica 'Baldwin') is a tree for the food garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Light pink blooms open in early to late spring and attract bees. Mrs Butters bred it in the 1750s, and it is grown for fresh eating, juice, and pies. Plant a second apple nearby, since it is not self-fertile.
Pairs well with Juneberry, Grape hyacinth, and Wormwood.
