Notes
'Bat' carnation (Dianthus 'Bat') is a perennial for borders, edging, and fragrant plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun and average moisture. Ruby red flowers open in late spring and carry into early to mid summer. Deer tend to browse other plants first. The fragrant blooms sit on compact plants that reach 9 to 15 inches tall and wide.
Pairs well with May Night salvia, Feather reed grass, and Mountain mint.
