Notes

'Battlefield' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Battlefield') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its fragrant, cherry-red to mauve blooms have crimson and green flecks and silvery edges. They open in early summer above dark foliage. Hollis bred it in 1907, and the tall stems may droop, so you can give them support.

Pairs well with Incrediball hydrangea, Christmas fern, Black Hero tulip, and Orange lily.
