Notes

Big Bend bluebonnet (Lupinus havardii) is an annual for borders and low-maintenance gardens. This plant likes full sun and dry, sandy or loamy soil. It grows 1 to 3 feet tall, with deep blue flowers on the upper part of the stems. Each bloom has a lemon blotch. Flowers open from late winter through late spring, and bees and butterflies visit them. The leaves are divided into seven leaflets.

Pairs well with Narrowleaf milkweed, Chia, and Shenandoah switchgrass.
