Notes

'Russell' lupine (Lupinus polyphyllus 'Russell') is a perennial for pollinator gardens and low maintenance beds. Give it full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy or loamy soil. Blue flowers open in early to late spring and again in early to late summer. Bumblebees pollinate it, and it hosts the larvae of many butterfly species. It sits low on the menu for deer. Hummingbirds and bees also visit the blooms.

Pairs well with American Gold Rush black-eyed Susan, Musk mallow, and Carlton daffodil.
