Notes

'Black Dragon' poppy (Papaver somniferum 'Black Dragon') is an annual for borders and low maintenance gardens. It grows well in cool weather and can ride out a light frost. This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. It blooms from early to late summer and draws butterflies and bees. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. Plants reach about 36 inches tall.

Pairs well with Ostfriesland sage, Lady's mantle, and Purple Sensation ornamental onion.
