Notes

'Black Panther' peony (Paeonia 'Black Panther') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Its ruffled, almost fully double maroon blooms look nearly black. The plant spreads by stolons and soon makes a wide bush, so give it room. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits.

Pairs well with Dancing Queen hosta, Mock orange, Blue fescue, and Stargazer lily.
