Notes

'Black Tie' bigleaf hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla 'Black Tie') is a shrub for cut flowers, hedges, privacy screens, and shade gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. It grows fast and has an erect habit. It blooms from early to late summer and tolerates salt.

Pairs well with Aureola Japanese forest grass, Lady fern, and Speedwell.
