Notes

'Blackthorn' sanguisorba (Sanguisorba 'Blackthorn') is a perennial. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and moist soil. It forms a clump that grows 24 to 48 inches tall and 24 to 36 inches wide. Bees visit the magenta bottlebrush flowers that sway above green, pinnate leaves from early to late summer and again in early to mid autumn. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal.

Pairs well with Gladiator ornamental onion, Orange lily, and Queen of Sweden rose.
