Notes
'Blanche de Mathieu' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Blanche de Mathieu') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Tree peonies have woody stems that stay above ground through winter, so skip the hard cutback you give a perennial peony.
Pairs well with Fire Island hosta, Star magnolia, Ostrich fern, and Pink Impression tulip.
