Notes

Blood pink (Dianthus cruentus) is a perennial for borders, rock gardens, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average soil. Fragrant crimson-red flowers rise on thin, upright stems above blue-green, grass-like leaves. Plant it near a seating area to enjoy the scent. Bees and butterflies visit the blooms, and light trimming after flowering can promote rebloom.

Pairs well with Lemon thyme, Karl Foerster feather reed grass, and Goldenrod.
