Notes

Blue wood sedge (Carex flaccosperma) is a grass for woodland gardens, ground cover, rock gardens, and borders. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Its blue-green to powder blue leaves spread slowly to form a unique groundcover. Shear it in spring to tidy the foliage. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal.

Pairs well with Woodland phlox, Lady fern, and Aureola Japanese forest grass.
