Notes
Broadleaf lupine (Lupinus latifolius) is a perennial for low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy or loamy soil. It grows from one foot tall up to four feet tall. Semi-open spikes of purple-blue and white flowers rise above rich green, palmate leaves. Native bees, including bumblebees, pollinate the blooms, and many butterfly species use it as a larval host.
Pairs well with American aspen, Giant sequoia, and Shasta daisy.
