Notes
'Burning Desire' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Burning Desire') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Each stem carries one red, semi-double flower, with an occasional double. The extra long stems hold the blooms well above the mid-green foliage. John and Dot McFarlane bred it.
Pairs well with Annabelle hydrangea, Prairie dropseed, Grape hyacinth, and Christmas fern.
