Notes
'Captain Kirk' hosta (Hosta 'Captain Kirk') is a perennial for shade gardens, borders, and ground cover. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist, loamy or clay soil. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. It grows 12 to 24 inches tall and spreads at least 24 inches, so give it room. Bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds visit the fragrant blooms.
Pairs well with Aureola Japanese forest grass, Red baneberry, Delft Lace florist's spiraea, and Fringed bleeding heart.
