Notes
'Cascade Sunburst' California huckleberry (Vaccinium ovatum 'Cascade Sunburst') is a shrub for a food garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry soil. The glossy evergreen leaves show green and yellow, with coral on new growth that fades to green. Pale pink spring flowers attract hummingbirds and butterflies, and dark berries follow in summer. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything.
Pairs well with Winter jasmine, Autumn moor grass, and Elfin mother of thyme.
