Notes

'Chivette' ornamental onion (Allium 'Chivette') is a bulb for borders, containers, and rock gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and sandy or loamy soil. Fragrant lavender-purple flowers open in early to late spring and again in early to late summer, and they draw butterflies and bees. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. The plant also tolerates drought.

Pairs well with Karl Rosenfield peony, Halcyon hosta, Pink Impression tulip, and African marigold.
