Notes

'Colleen Marie' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Colleen Marie') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Ben Gilbertson bred it, and it first bloomed in 1971. The dark red double flowers look like balls and bloom in mid to late spring and early summer. The strong, wiry stems reach 30 inches, and the flowers droop some but hold up well.

Pairs well with Ostrich fern, Japanese spirea, Grape hyacinth, and Sedge.
