Notes

Common wood sedge (Carex blanda) is a grass for low maintenance planting and ground cover. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. The broad, linear leaves look like grass and stay evergreen. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Give it good drainage, or use it as a specimen plant.

Pairs well with Woodland phlox, Christmas fern, and Eastern columbine.
