Notes

'Dark Sister' rhododendron (Rhododendron 'Dark Sister') is a shrub for borders, specimen plantings, shade gardens, and woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to moist, sandy or loamy soil. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. It is evergreen and grows 36 to 60 inches tall and wide. Purple flowers with a red blotch open in early to late spring and attract hummingbirds, bees, and birds.

Pairs well with Japanese forest grass, Christmas fern, and Coralbells.
