Notes
'Desertnyi' pomegranate (Punica granatum 'Desertnyi') is a shrub for the food garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full or part sun. It is grown for its dark red fruit seeds with a sweet-tart flavor and a hint of citrus. Orange-red blooms give it a subtropical look. It reaches about 10 feet, but you can prune it to keep it smaller.
Pairs well with Persimmon, Artichoke, Society garlic, and Creosote bush.
