Ambrosia pomegranate

Garden uses

Notes

'Ambrosia' pomegranate (Punica granatum 'Ambrosia') is a shrub for food gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full or part sun. It grows up to 10 feet tall, but pruning keeps it smaller. The orange-red blooms give a subtropical look, and the pink-skinned fruit is among the largest of all pomegranates, with sweet-tart arils inside. It is self fertile and needs lots of heat to bloom and fruit.

Pairs well with Persimmon, Gypsy rose, and Society garlic.
