Notes

Downy clematis (Clematis macropetala) is a vine for borders, low maintenance gardens, and ground cover. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Violet, lavender-blue flowers open in early to late spring, with more in early to late summer. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Dropmore Scarlet honeysuckle, Shrub rose, and Grape hyacinth.

Siberia, Mongolia, and China.
