Notes
'Joe Zary' downy clematis (Clematis macropetala 'Joe Zary') is a vine for trellises, fences, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun. Its purple flowers look spidery, with many narrow, rippled petals. Dr. F.L. Skinner bred it. Deadhead to encourage rebloom, or leave the spent flowers to keep the seed heads.
Pairs well with Campfire rose, Panicle hydrangea, Grape hyacinth, and White spruce.
